Knight Your Ride: Forged

Leading the creative strategy for this project and actively contributing to its development has been one of my proudest professional achievements. The energy and passion we infused into this concept were unmatched, and overall, we had so much fun concepting and working on this campaign, which is reflected in the final product. Despite working without a dedicated budget, our team's ingenuity and creativity shone through as we developed, filmed, and produced this engaging creative concept.

Knight Your Ride: Forged

The Concept

When developing the concept for this creative project, we wanted to take a different approach by placing the license plate in an unexpected environment. Inspired by UCF's mascot, Knightro, we explored various ways to incorporate a medieval theme while emphasizing school spirit without falling into something expected.

We envisioned a serious, dramatic, and somewhat gritty setting that would build suspense until we reveal that the character behind the action is Knightro. The contrast and tongue-in-cheek humor of placing Knightro in such a dramatic scene provided a refreshing twist to the campaign, allowing us to have fun with the concept while still capturing attention.

Bringing "Forged" to Life

We filmed this project at two different locations over two days. On the first day, we conducted an in-studio shoot where Knightro, UCF's mascot, performed a series of actions to mimic the forging process. This included a quenching scene, which we recreated using a whiskey barrel planter and dry ice. Prior to this shoot, our team carved an anvil out of Styrofoam, weathered all of the props worn by Knightro (including a butcher's apron, gauntlet gloves, and bracers), and created a dramatic environment with a haze machine and black backdrop. We also captured a series of static photos to use across various campaign assets. For the second shoot, we filmed a blacksmith at his shop for the scenes that required actual forging and fire.

During the post-production stage, we collaborated with a composer to create an original score that would enhance our final spot's emotional and dramatic elements. While editing, we prioritized selecting the most dynamic and visually engaging shots from our footage to construct a seamless final edit. Our goal was to ensure that the end result effectively captured attention in the fast-paced environment of social media feeds.
